August 11th 2009. Bought my first song online.

in

Today I did it. And it does not hurt. I bought my first .mp3 file online. I did not use Apples iTunes Store, because afaik you need a credit card to create an account there. My first buy happend on Amazon. I did not know that Amazon also offers downloads of music, so I landed there via a Google search. As I already have an account there, and the price for the song was very reasonable - 77 € cents - I decided to try it out. During the checkout-process a downloader software is downloaded, which then downloads the file. The song also is automatically added to my iTunes library. So, a very smooth process in general.

Dear music industry...

It's not the peoples fault that it took / takes so long until people are paying again for music. It's the fault of the industry, as they failed / fail to offer adequate and fairly-priced alternatives to pirate-bay et al.

I want a flat-rate for maybe 10-15 € per month. I want a good working suggestion system. I want good ways to pre-listen to music. I want an online back-up and streaming service of my music, to access it from everywhere. I want to create playlists of my songs and provide them for streaming to friends.

tim o'reilly ueber piracy

My new Behringer BCD 3000

My Behringer BCD 3000

Few days ago I got a new toy... a Behringer BCD 3000! i leiiiik! For all non-freaks out there: with that box, which you can see left of my laptop btw, you can control a DJ software very nicely. You don't need to struggle with the mouse anymore - instead you just use faders and knobs like with a real mixer. Very nice! Even scratching works a little bit, at least enough for my purposes. Additionally there are 2 line-in channnels and also a XLR in for a mic. So, everything you need for DJing I would say...

Und eine Weisheit fuer Deutschsprechende: Auflegen am Morgen vertreibt Kummer und Sorgen!

Today it's raining in Paradize!

Do you know Manu Chao's song "Raining in Paradize"? It was released somewhen in Summer/Fall 2007, I think, and the first thing I loved of it was that it was released as a free download :) Right now I stumbled over the video of it, and I like that too :)

My Music Revolution

The way I am listening to music is changing nowadays. It is getting better actually, and as music is important for me I appreciate this development. So, in fact listening to music and most importantly finding new good music is not easy and does not happen by it's own. But at least - its getting easier now.
